When used within country-wide programmes, this paediatric hospital quality assessment and improvement tool provides recommendations for national health authorities on how to improve the health system performance across its main functions (i.e. governance, financing, human resources, essential medical products and technologies, health information systems and service delivery). It can also be used in a single facility for internal audit purposes. Additional key functions of the tool include developing local capacities (through a peer-to-peer model) and promoting the adoption of evidenced based guidelines.
