An online data repository with built-in analytic functions that use case-level data to identify potentially preventable deaths in trauma and emergcency care settings.

The registry is a data repository with built-in analytic functions that use case-level data to identify potentially preventable deaths. It can collect integrated data – from the pre-hospital setting to emergency unit visits to inpatient stays.

First, data are collected on patient presentation, care and outcome. Second, these data are analysed to determine if poor outcomes were potentially preventable. These reports can be rapidly fed back to clinical teams for review and targeted education. Such quality improvement cycles are iterative, directly informing corrective actions over time. In essence, the registry provides a way to identify gaps in care and to ‘close the loop’ – feeding reports back to providers to allow for change.
